Jaguar Land Rover’s Defender – Meeting challenges with material, automation and sustainability
An icon reinvents itself, reimagined for the 21st century: peppered with innovative technologies, visually completely new – and yet clearly recognizable as a Defender. Insight@Jaguar Land Rover 2023 at Nitra, Slovakia, offers you the opportunity to take a closer look at the highlights of the car body and how production meets the current requirements for sustainability, automation and flexibility.
With an investment volume of 1.4 billion euros, the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra marks the latest step in the company’s global expansion strategy. The new 300,000 m² plant with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles occupies a leading position in the use of aluminium in manufacturing and technical design in Slovakia. The plant contributes to the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-tech lightweight vehicles to its customers.
The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and a conveyor system, which offers 30 percent faster transfer times than conventional systems. In addition, it has a highly automated painting process to ensure the highest quality while minimizing environmental impact.
With a view to the future, the factory has been designed flexibly and is prepared for the use of intelligent, networked production technologies such as visualization in manufacturing. The use of real-time data enables improved process efficiency, delivery and quality.
