Tucker Grounding Studs – State of the Art and Innovation

For all steel and aluminium car body materials

Ever since there have been cars on the road, the negative pole of the DC supply voltage is the car body itself. Therefore, all electrical devices in a car must be electrically connected to the body.

For more than 35 years, the Tucker drawn arc welded ground stud has been a preferred method to provide this connection.

Historically, there were between 5 to 20 grounding contacts per vehicle. However, modern cars, especially hybrid and electrical Cars, need several hundred ground connections.

It is mandatory to have safe, reliable, and low resistance connections, and this performance must be guaranteed over the lifetime of a car. Keep in mind that any ground connection failure could end up in stranded vehicles or even could become a safety hazard.

During the first part of the Webinar, we will compare Tucker drawn arc ground studs with other grounding processes and explain how climate and environmental factors have an impact and how the Tucker ground stud outperforms these other processes.

In the second part of the webinar, we will describe the different Tucker weld studs in use today and how Tucker stud welding equipment can weld these studs onto all existing steel and aluminium material used in the automotive industry.

Please join us for this event. For those who have not been so much involved in electrical grounding, it is a good start to understand the entire fastening system. For those already engaged in this technique, it will be a revelation to understand how complex this subject is.
